I have not blogged for an awful long time and I decided that I need to blogg more than I facebook.. the good thing is that I can always copy to facebook what I have blogged!

I have been blessed this year with some amazing experiences: seeing my son become a Marine, a daughter marry to a wonderful guy in the Omaha winter Quarters temple, photographing seniors and weddings, ( and then some), planning several receptions and traveling the mid west as well as the western of the United States several times in a span of eleven months. It has all been wonderful.

I have so much to blogg and post, but I am so excited that I just want to quickly post the images that I took at Colorado National Monument, CO.

John Otto, the first park custodian back in 1911, said,

"There is nothing little about Colorado National Monument. I am sure we will get it to the front some day and all the people of the country will be talking about it, and the travelers of the world will want to come and see it, and none of them will be disappointed."

A hundred years latter and I was one of those travelers blessed to see this little piece of heaven on earth, and definitely was not disappointed at all. It is just gorgeous. Red sands, green trees, rock formations that captures your attention as well as a friendly location to walk the rim of such altitudes. Indeed, it was a photographers delight! And there is nothing little about it at all. I did not see all of the park, I can't imagine what it all entails, but this area was amazing enough for the short time I was sight seeing.

It has been a while since I have posted anything... and life still goes on.

I am loving what I am doing. I am loving the things that I discover. Our 2009/2010 winter has been a little harsher than most, but I have noticed that I am not complaining about it like winter past. I am not real fond of the winter season, especially the cold winters of Nebraska, but this year something was different about my attitude. in pondering of my attitude I have come to realize how great this winter season has really been, all due to the fact that my senses have heightened this past year. This winter was fantastic for the photographer who sees art in their view. Everyday, this season, a new dawn broke with a different perspective of how majestic the winter elements can be.

Five to eight feet of snow was charming enough. A beautiful winter wonderland completed the nostalgia of a white christmas, but then the snowfalls were followed by several days of foggy and damp days, which in turn created this world of icicle treasures. Beautiful icicles. A sea of glass embodied the trees. Icicles surged out of the limbs like pins and needles in a pin cushion. Swing sets at the local play ground had a version of punk rock as moisture collected to form spikes along the metal bars. To see the ice form like needles on a porcupine, had a dramatic impact on my mind, it held me spellbound to it's beauty. I found it frustrating to be scheduled for work on those special foggy days, but on one morning I did manage to capture a few images prior to going to work, which succored the appetite of my desires to be out in the cold and shoot pictures. Some days latter, on a very clear yet windy day, the the snow was tossed about in the air. Unseen crystals of tiny ice scattered about like dust shaken off a feather duster. It was only in view of the sunshine could the particles be seen, creating a ring of fire around the sun, or at times seemed like a rainbow had circled around the sun. It was visible in the morning hours, just as much as in the evening hours. It was amazing. This whole winter season was amazing, and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to experience it.

Last week I went for a walk at Chalco Hills with my family. I took my camera with me, and at first it seemed like I wouldn't find anything out of the ordinary to take pictures of. Well was I wrong! I discovered little treasures that were far more beautiful than realized. Spiders. To think, I have walked this lake for the last 17 years and this is the first time I have come across these little spiders, yet, not so little. A gentleman walking by told me that these spiders were called Writers Spiders because of the unusual writing like marks in the web. But all spiders featured here are in the "Orb" family.

Spiders of all things are beginning to grow on me, who'd of thought? These are beautiful spiders. Look at their designs on their backs. Look at their colors. Look at their fascinating little faces. They are awesome. Such a treat to come upon these little discoveries of nature.

It just goes to show that we can't be to pessimistic. Life is always full of little delightful surprises lurking in unexpected places no matter how many times we have traveled on the same road. We can still miss sweet opportunities if we don't keep our eyes and our minds open.

I love where this is taking me. Since beginning this Blogg, I have explored avenues that I had never thought possible for me to follow. Discoveries beyond my imagination. I sometimes wonder why I didn't discover things sooner, but sometimes I am just not ready yet to trek down that road until I have trained myself to better accept the newness of it all. Not only do I embrace it more vigorously, but appreciate what it took for me to finally be where I am today. Nothing has been lost at all, it's where I am suppose to be at, right here and now, as I am.

And I like who I am, right here and now. :)

A NEW HORIZON

Hi.

I am Judith. Welcome to my Blogg... such a vain thing to say, in thinking that someone might actually be reading this site, but I have read other bloggs, so why wouldn't you be reading mine, especially when I have invited you in. :)

Some of you may know me, and some of you may not. That's O.K. because right now I don't know who you are! In visiting my sight and welcoming me into your world, we might have the opportunity get to know each other.

Of late, I have enjoyed spending time on the computer. I enjoy the Facebook scene; it's fun to be in touch with family and friends on a daily basis, without feeling I am invading their 12 inches of space. I enjoy sharing. I also like the idea that I am developing my computer skills by venturing into new territories, like this Blogg site. I am learning the computer lingo, and I am learning to face some of my fears in the computer world.

Sometimes it is scary to charter out into new territories; we like our comfort zones, creatures of habits. Comfort zones are good, but "adventures untouched are adventures lost". We miss out. We miss out on the discoveries. Sure it's all been discovered, other wise I would be making a history of being the first Blogger, but the truth is, I am discovering things for my self. I am the one who would be missing out on what this little episode can do for me and will never know until I bring myself out of my comfort zone and discover my new horizon!

I enjoy writing, I have been writing in my journal for over 30 years, give or take a few years of retiring the penmanship due to motherhood duties and such. I find it fulfilling to convey the words, feelings and emotions on paper, challenging myself to write fluently and somewhat poetically! Some day I would like to write children's books about my childhood. So, journals and Bloggs are great practice run for a greater work ahead.

I enjoy telling the story, but my language of speech is not so fluent... I tend to speak faster than what I allow my brain to think about the things I am going to say, therefore when I tell the story it tends to come out all gibberish. Writing forces me to focus and think to choose the words I use more wisely and to be creative in the story I tell. So no doubt, stories will be told, adventures will be addressed, and horizons discovered as I venture into Blogg land. "Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained"

Telling the story comes in many forms of information. Writing is one, art is another, music, and so forth. My other form of telling the story is in photography. My photography allows me to be creative. My Blogg is to promote my photography. I want to be a photographer. I love the gift that I have in capturing the moments, that right moment, which lightens the heart and triggers the emotion, even mine. It triggers my emotions because I finally recognize that I have not only the ability alone, but the gift of a talent as well. A talent I have been searching for all my life. A gift that allows me to feel confident about myself and who I am. To be comfortable in my own skin. This is such a new discovery, a baby in it's infancy, anxiously awaiting to evolve.

This new horizon will have many a story to tell, many a picture to share and many a moment to capture... together.
